How we work

A methodology built for clarity—not rankings theater.

We separate education from promotion, use primary sources for federal guidance, and identify material commercial relationships.

Source hierarchy

Federal rules, rates, limits, and program guidance are checked against Federal Student Aid, the U.S. Department of Education, and applicable CFPB material. Provider-specific information is checked against official provider disclosures and product pages.

Comparison categories

Our framework emphasizes APR, rate type, term, repayment structure, fees, cosigner policy, borrower support, eligibility transparency, product availability, and total cost. No loan is labeled best for everyone.

Updates

Date-sensitive guides and provider profiles identify when they were reviewed. Material rule or product changes trigger a review. Readers should still confirm the actual terms presented in the authorized application.

Compensation

College Loan Finder may receive compensation from providers or marketplaces. A relationship may affect whether and where a provider appears, but material compensation is disclosed near the relevant action.

What we do not do

  • Originate loans or make credit decisions.
  • Guarantee approval, rates, savings, or lender availability.
  • Collect sensitive application credentials in educational tools.
  • Present an advertised rate range as a personalized offer.
