Complete the FAFSA and review grants, scholarships, savings, school aid, and eligible federal loans before using private credit.
Begin with the school’s international-aid office
Ask for the complete annual cost, required proof of funds, institutional scholarships, payment deadlines, health-insurance charges, work restrictions, and emergency resources. Confirm whether a loan will satisfy the school’s certification and visa-documentation process.
Separate cosigned and no-cosigner paths
Some products require a U.S. citizen or permanent-resident cosigner. Specialized lenders may offer no-cosigner paths at supported schools and programs. Compare the legal obligation, release policy, fees, rate type, supported countries, and underwriting model.
Model more than tuition
Housing, travel, insurance, currency movements, work authorization, and the timing of post-graduation employment can affect repayment capacity. Use a conservative income and exchange-rate scenario. Confirm where payments must be made and which servicer receives them.
Verify every eligibility layer
Check citizenship or visa status, school and program, degree type, enrollment level, graduation date, academic progress, requested amount, and cosigner requirements. A general “international students welcome” statement does not mean every applicant or school is eligible.
Protect documents and immigration information
College Loan Finder does not collect passports, visa documents, bank records, or application data. Submit sensitive documents only through the authorized lender or marketplace after verifying the destination and privacy policy.
Primary sources
Sources were checked during the September 11, 2026 review. Provider terms and federal rules can change.
Next decision
Use a calculator to test the amount and full cost, then compare public lender features. Final eligibility, rate, and loan terms come only from the authorized provider.
